| Brian Calvin - Owner
My 20 year military career in the Naval Special Forces allowed
me to acquire a wealth of knowledge dealing with fitness and nutrition.
During this time I received fitness training and certification through
the Army’s Master Fitness Trainer Course, the Navy’s
Special Operations Physical Training Leaders Course and the world
renowned Cooper Institute’s Personal Fitness Specialist Certification.
Since my retirement I have gone back to the Cooper Institute and
received a certification as a Master Fitness Specialist and I have
also received a personal training certification through Apex (which
specializes in nutrition and supplementation). I continue to expand
my knowledge in fitness and nutrition with the belief that there
is always something new to learn and a different approach to make
a difference in someone else’s life. I became a personal trainer
to help others, not to help myself. But I’ve found in helping
others, I’ve bettered myself in many ways.
Since my High School days I’ve seen a lot of my family and
friends transform from healthy individuals to unhealthy ones because
of increased weight, poor nutrition or a combination of the two.
Fortunately none of those people have become seriously ill as a
result of poor fitness, but the possibility of future illnesses
stemming from poor nutrition and poor fitness habits are very real.
Fitness and nutrition do not have to be difficult, unpleasant or
confusing. They can be fun and fulfilling. There is an appropriate
and effective exercise regime out there for everyone and my desire
is to make as many people aware of their tailored fitness program
as possible. Adults need to get active for themselves and their
kids. Kids are becoming obese at an alarming rate and one of the
best ways for mom and dad to change their kid’s behaviors
is to lead by example. |
